My name is Kentaroo Tryman and I strive to photograph with techniques that distort reality a little. To enhance a sense of calm and softness in the images, despite the harsh environment or weather.
My pictures are created in the environments and landscapes that I´m naturally drawn to. Often these are desolated places in the wilderness, preferably near the sea or the mountains. The sea is a big part of my life, as I previously worked as a marine biologist, but even today I spend a lot of time both by and in the sea when I surf and freedive.
As I photograph a lot of architecture on assignments, I am also drawn to special urban environments and buildnings.
I´ve been working as a freelance photographer since 2004. I mainly do advertising and architecture photography for my everyday clients. Ever since I was a child in the 80s, I´ve been interested in photography to just create images that have the sole purpose of being beautiful. In parallel, I worked with drawing and painting and have always been interested in art. Now as a professional I combine the mindset of drawing and painting with my cameras, how I handle light, lines and how I handle the pictures in the retousch.
Sometimes I take time to exhibit my own photo projects in galleries or organize my own exhibitions. Now my big goal is to be able to support myself more from art, because that´s what I´m most passionate about and that is where it all started.
